Laut Nusantara: A Fishing App for Indonesian Fishermen
Laut Nusantara is an Android-based fishing app developed by PT XL Axiata Tbk and Balai Riset dan Observasi Laut (Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries) for Indonesian fishermen. The app is designed to help fishermen plan their fishing activities more effectively, efficiently, and safely, by providing various information on a single platform. The app is part of the national program for fishermen, Nelayan Go Online, and is endorsed by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
The app features real-time and updated information on fishing areas, including information on Pelagic Fish, Lemuru, Tuna Mata Besar, and Cakalang. It also provides information on fish prices in several fishing ports, which serves as a reference for fishermen to sell their catch. The app also includes a catch recording feature, which helps fishermen manage their catch data and support better fisheries management by relevant parties. Navigation features include selecting fishing locations, estimating fuel requirements, calculating distance and travel time, and an SOS button for emergencies. The app also provides up-to-date weather information, including wind direction and speed, and sea wave conditions. Lastly, the app includes a live chat feature for users to communicate with the app's management team.
